Burlington, VT - Vermont Academy of Choral Music is proud to announce an innovative benefit concert, SPHERE: A FULL 360, set to transform audiences’ perceptions of choral music while supporting a vital cause. This groundbreaking event is not just a concert but a multi-dimensional journey through life’s profound themes, utilizing the concept of a sphere to explore unity, diversity, and the human experience in its entirety.

About the Concert:
SPHERE: A FULL 360 is more than a performance; it's an artistic and philosophical exploration. Inspired by the geometry of a sphere, where every point is equidistant from the center, this concert symbolizes how diverse life paths from various origins converge into a unified experience. The music selection mirrors this concept, touching upon the cycle of birth, living, and death, along with themes of tragedy, grief, and reconciliation, all converging towards a communal focal point of shared human emotion.

A Multi-sensory Experience:
Attendees can expect an immersive experience, combining choral music with visual elements, including innovative lighting and graphic designs. This integration aims to foster a space for innovation, creative expression, and personal reflection, making the audience an integral part of the performance.

Collaborative Effort:
The concert boasts collaborations with esteemed composers such as Paul Mealor, Henrik Dahlgren, Dale Trumbore, and Dr. Justin Rito, among others. The result is a unique program for an all-treble choir, interspersed with poetry and other excerpts, crafting a multidimensional cantata that embodies the concert’s spherical theme.

Sean Kelly, frontman of The Samples, is known for his high voice, unique guitar playing, and songs like “Nature” and “Feel Us Shaking.” Born in 1965 in Connecticut and raised in Vermont, he moved to Colorado in 1987, forming The Samples and blending rock, reggae, and folk. Kelly’s music has featured in "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," TV’s "Younger," and MSNBC ads. The Samples are recording their 20th album, "Indian Summer," due later this year.

Johnny Lit’s Jerry Duty, originally from Scranton, Pennsylvania, is a nationally touring tribute to Jerry Garcia's music. Led by Johnny with high energy and intuitive performances, it has quickly become a prominent force in live music. Their shows feature all-star lineups, including members from Bob Weir's Ratdog, New Riders of the Purple Sage, Melvin Seal’s JGB, Twiddle, American Babies, and more, with authentic instrumentation that transports audiences.

They aim to deliver the authentic "Experience," emphasizing collective, improvisational music rarely found today. Their performances are not just concerts but communal gatherings where fans and artists celebrate music and lifestyle together, creating lasting memories.

Fusing together the sounds of electric blues, jazz, and country music, The Allman Brothers Band is a pinnacle in the American rock music landscape with their combination of timeless radio hits, blues-rock rippers, and innovative instrumental pieces.

One August 9th, All Night Boogie Band featuring Lara Cwass and Josh Dobbs will play tribute to The Allman Brothers Band and their legendary songbook.

Joe's Big Band is a 17-piece jazz ensemble based in the Burlington area that has been

performing music ranging from Swing Era classics to contemporary jazz, blues, and

funk throughout northern Vermont for over 30 years.

Join us for Tusk: The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute on The Green at The Essex Experience Green on Sunday, August 18.

This concert will be held outdoors. We are offering 400 tickets for an additional $10 each, which would guarantee you a seat inside our TREX Theater if we must move the concert inside in the event of inclement weather.

Tusk has been crisscrossing the country since 2008 as The Ultimate Fleetwood Mac Tribute. But of all the Fleetwood Mac tributes playing around the United States today, what exactly sets Tusk apart?

Is it more than five skilled professionals turned masters of their trade through decades of individual musical study, live performance, creative risk, and devotion to the art?

Is it more than their affection and respect for the Fleetwood Mac experience, an entity that continues to endure over 50 years of musical and cultural evolution?

Is it more than vocal similarities, common physical traits, or good costumes?

To be sure, one does not fare well in the tribute scene without displaying some or all of these characteristics. So, what qualities does Tusk possess that can’t be learned, bought, or created simply from a desire to have them?

The relationship among the five founding members of Tusk has a rich history that goes back more than four decades. Two met while playing Little League baseball. Two others met in middle school band and marched in lockstep through high school. All five have been playing music with one another over the years in various configurations of original bands, jam bands, singer-songwriter circles, and alternative rock groups. Time, trust, and close friendship have cultivated an intimate familiarity with each other’s musical nuances, shaping each performance with such precision that even the slightest variation, virtually imperceptible to all but the five musicians sharing the stage, is met with a wink and a nod, and usually an inside joke. Tusk is more than a band; they are a family.

Davy Knowles: With an unmistakable style, Davy Knowles has shone since his 2007 debut with Back Door Slam. Produced by Peter Frampton, he has shared stages with legends like Jeff Beck, The Who, and Joe Bonamassa. Knowles’ versatility spans rock, blues, and folk, with top-charting albums and historic performances, including a live show for the International Space Station.

Jeffrey Gaines: Known for his soul-searching lyrics and powerful live performances, Jeffrey Gaines has released eight albums and toured internationally. Acclaimed by Rolling Stone as “the voice of a generation,” Gaines has performed with Tom Petty, Tracy Chapman, and Stevie Nicks. His hit single “Hero In Me” highlights his impactful career.

Join us as The Double E Performance Center and Nectar's Presents brings back Jorma Kaukonen for one night only, as he graces the Old Stage at The Essex Experience on Saturday, August 24th.

A member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a Grammy recipient, Jorma is best known as one of the pioneers of psychedelic rock; he is a founding member of two legendary bands, Jefferson Airplane and the still-touring Hot Tuna.

Jorma Kaukonen is a music legend and one of the finest singer-songwriters in his field. He continues to tour the world, bringing his unique styling to old blues tunes while presenting new songs of weight and dimension. His secret is in playing spontaneous and unfiltered music, with an individual expression of personality.

In the event of inclement weather, a $10 ticket upgrade guarantees the first 380 patrons to a seat should the concert need to be moved indoors to our TREX Theater at the Double E Performance Center.
