The Jr. Chef series at The Essex are designed for the enthusiastic middle school baker (ages 11-15).
These young bakers will build their skills by exploring three key ingredients in baking: butter, eggs, and sugar. In this three-part mini-series, each class highlights one essential ingredient, giving students the opportunity to learn how it functions in baking, what it contributes to texture and structure, and how to use it to create successful finished products. Throughout the series, students will make pâte brisée (pie crust), lemon custard, and caramel.
Dates: June 16, 23, and 30
Time: 2:00 PM–4:00 PM
$200
Students may also enroll in Baking Fundamentals A, offered on the same Tuesdays from 9:00 AM–11:00 AM, for a more complete overview of foundational baking skills.
For a more complete baking experience, students are welcome to enroll in both Baking Fundamentals A and B. With A offered in the morning and B in the afternoon on the same dates, the two mini-series are designed to complement one another.
